Built by Brin Wilson

Brin Wilson has built more than 100 boats in its history - many of them are still sailing. Here is a selection of the boats we are very proud to be associated with.

1952 Endeavour - 36ft Kauri-wood boat

This was Brin Wilson’s first boat build, launched in Auckland, New Zealand in the summer of 1952. Construction: Kauri wood. Build: Three months. Designer: Bill Coudry

1961 Martangi - 36 ft

Designed by Bob Stewart and constructed from kauri timber

1971 - Pathfinder

Construction: Triple skin Kauri—two diagonals and a fore and aft on ribs. Deck: Plywood on Kauri deck beams. Won the Sydney Hobart 1971. LOA 38ft 7in, 17,903 lbs, designed by Sparkman and Stevens

1980 Harrier

Triple skin 2× diagonal 1× fore and aft over laminated frames. 60ft, designed by Sparkman and Stevens

1986 Azure, 46ft masthead sloop

This elegant blue‑water cruiser‑racer follows in the tradition of sailing boats on which Bruce Clarke built his enviable reputation as a designer of fast, comfortable performance yachts. Built in New Zealand by Brin Wilson to IOR specifications, this masthead sloop is constructed to the highest standard in three layers of cold‑moulded kauri on spruce stringers. This construction method is favoured by experienced sailors worldwide for its light weight and bullet‑proof strength. Specifications:

1999 Shannon Star III

45 ft composite build (balsa sandwiched between plywood), deck plywood, ply foam, ply cabintop. Designed by Bob and Richard Wilson.

2011 Wilson 8M

This Richard Wilson‑designed and Brin Wilson Boatbuilders‑built traditional‑style launch is a new concept in water craft. The flat sections aft give greater stability and the twin keels reduce sideways drift. The spacing of the twin keels allows the vessel to be self‑supported and enables you to reach out‑of‑the‑way places and anchor as close to the shore as you like. The vessel’s displacement has been kept as light as possible, meaning the boat can be powered by as little as 70 horsepower thus greatly increasing fuel efficiency without sacrificing speed. The beam is kept under the 2.5‑metre legal towing width, allowing the boat to be easily towed behind a suitable vehicle. The double berth forward, separate toilet and galley mean that overnight excursions are comfortable. Designed by Richard Wilson, 8.85m long including outboard and bow sprit. Cruising speed 17 knots.
